  • 2tbs. flour
  • 1 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups low sodium beef broth
  • 1/2 cup brandy

  • 2/3 cup sour cream I use fat free

Preparation

  1. Pat beef dry with paper towel and season with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tea spoon of oil in large skillet over medium heat until just smoking. Cook half of the beef until well browned (3 to 4 minutes) per side. Transfer to a medium bowel and repeat with i table spoon more oil and the remaining beef.
  2. Heat the remaining oil in the now empty skillet until simmering. Cook mushrooms, onion and 1/2 tea spoon of salt. Cook until the liquid from the mushrooms has evaporated, about eight minutes. If the pan becomes too brown poor in the accumulated beef juices into the skillet. Stir in the flour and cook for 30 seconds. Looks like a great recipe Nancy.

It is so weird though, I saw an online cooking show recently that showed how to make a similar high quality stroganoff. Life is so full of coincidence!

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you have more. I took the liberty of reformatting your post to make it easier to read, and I will be adding a “recipe template” to the formatting buttons so that it will be easier for adding recipes.

Also we should be getting a “Home and Garden” type community started soon and we will be sure to have a devoted recipe blog topic. I just can’t believe we didn’t think of it sooner!

Take care.

Nancy, Thanks for sharing, I am a huge Stoganoff fan and am going to give this one a try. I was surprised you use the fat free sour cream, I was always afraid it would not have the same consistancy. Glad to know that it works and will certainely help with the calories on this dish! Again thanks!
