Around CoTradeCo.com we use jQuery to expedite development and help ensure we are implementing the most stable and useful unobtrusive javascript implementations we can. We haven’t begun to scratch the surface of the possibilities of using jQuery on the site and are excited to build a truly unique experience for you as CoTradeCo and our network of communities and trading post participants grow.

This slide show is a quick introduction for those of you who have considered using a javascript framework or were just curious why people would choose to use it. For us it was a simple matter of maximizing resources. While we could write every library we need, as a new company who wants to focus on content and usability first, using a framework such as jQuery offers the ability to quickly implement useful features and designs without starting from scratch every time.

Do you use a javascript framework? Or other programming framework like Ruby on Rails? Or are you completely opposed to frameworks?

Tell us your experiences and how you came to the development and design conclusions and decisions you did.

Okay I’m starting to feel bad. I just noticed there is a lot of people showing up here from search engines and some sites that I’m not sure how we got linked from and I’m realizing that while I think the slide show was interesting, it was probably misnamed in the first place (given that we are missing the actual presentation that goes with these slides) and I should not have named the post the same as the presentation.

I’ve renamed the post since it was obviously indexed and showing up unduly in searches. Sorry if there was any confusion to there being more content in this post than there really is.

For all the people who are landing here, if you have any jQuery questions feel free to ask. It’s the least we can do.
