Obscure Betting

Gambling on sports has been around forever. The four most bet sports are football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. More often than not, when a bet is placed, it’s based on one of these four sports. Of course, this is not including Horse Racing, which is unique in it’s own way. I’ll touch on that subject in a bit. However, time are changing. Now we have the unique opportunity to wager on “EXOTIC” sports such as Golf, NASCAR, MMA, and random entertainment and TV bets.

I enjoy writing these articles because it helps me remember to stick to the basics, and keep my head on straight. I’m still considered young, however in the betting world, i’m old as hell. I’ve witnessed everything you could imagine, over and over again. One thing that is so important in betting, is finding VALUE. I’ll say it again, finding VALUE!!! When i was 21 and tried to be one of the finest, The Las Vegas Sports Consultants, i was beat in the head with this comment. The one guy to this day i look up to in this industry, and who i’d blindly follow, said value and money management are by far the two most important things in sports betting. I’ll save the money management for another article!

The general betting public doesn’t take advantage the opportunity that is being extended to them. No matter how many different sports and types of bets that are being offered, it is still the same 11 people that set the majority of all lines. That’s right, 11 people. Once those 11 put out the lines, everyone else more or less follows suit. What im trying to say is that they can spread themselves too thin. Your typical NFL game is going to be researched so much more than your under-card UFC bout. Your NBA Playoff game is going to be looked at so much harder than your Golf three ball matchup. It all comes back to VALUE, VALUE, VALUE.

A quick random example of this goes back to the Kentucky Derby this year. Nearly everyone loved talking about the “big race” and most people were either on Big Brown or Colonel John. However, i learned two things about the Derby this year. First, NBC sucked ass at televising the event. That was awful, and i won’t spend another second even talking about them. More importantly, the easiest bet of the Derby was the under in the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home” I knew it was a good bet when the other guys at the party my wife and i were hosting started laughing when they heard about my bet. What’s funny is that every single guy that was at my party also bet on sports, and on the Derby. I had the under 3:00 that the song would be sung in. The song was finished in just over 1:30 and of course got the last laugh. VALUE, VALUE, VALUE

What i’m trying to say is to take advantage of what’s being given to you. This next weekend you have a solid UFC card, a Tiger-less Colonial, and the Danica 500. Take advantage of these opportunities. Most of the betting world will be fixated on the NBA Playoffs and MLB. While there is no doubt value in these sports, don’t forget about the “OTHER” sports. Take it from one of the Elite 11, it’s just plain easier to find value elsewhere!!

Anyone that has read this and hasn’t fallen asleep, i applaud you. And I’m sorry!! haha. Seriously though, to be successful at sports betting, you have to be an open book. Take in everything you can, and spit out what might not apply to you. I just wanted to share something that is hugely important to me everyday, and what is one of the basic principles for me every single day and every single play of mine. VALUE, VALUE, VALUE. Hope everyone had a great weekend, and Mondays suck!
