I haven’t gone to bed hungry one night yet.
I haven’t gone to bed hungry one night yet.
I haven’t gone to bed hungry one night yet.

And I’m thinkin’ maybe I should every now and then.

When smick and I discussed, plot’d and planned, even in the times when we idealized what Bus living would be like, we ALWAYS imagined eating little more than Ramen, Mac & Cheese and well, water. Now, our pantry here in the Bus is stocked with that stuff, along with potatoes, pasta, rice and so forth and the water tank that pumps water to our little sink holds 8 gallons of filtered water that is absolutely drinkable. However, we have yet to experience a Ramen day.

Every morning we have made a point to have coffee and pastries. For the last five days I have insisted on having a veggie sandwich with cream cheese, sprouts, cucumbers, hummus, tomato and avocado half of the time. This morning, we had spaghetti for breakfast, with a thick-creamy, white sauce with roasted peppers and other goodness. And then our pastries.

While we were in Half Moon Bay, we found a Smokehouse that served ‘delicious’ smoked salmon and Smick had a hay-day. None for me, no-no-no. (But look how happy he looks!) I have, what has been described as a less-than-healthy diversion to all things seafood. In general, it would be preferable for me to lick clean a bus station toilet seat than ingest anything from the embrace of mother ocean. My leveled gaze and statements that ‘I would rather do a shot of hot road tar’ or ‘There does not exist the means on this planet for me to want that in my mouth’ or ‘It smells like smokehouse flavored feces.’It disgusts me that you could eat that. I’m going out for several hours, please leave the windows open.’ doesn’t seem to take the wind out of all those who offer sails. I’m not generally a cruel person, but after repeated attempts at logically explaining how ill at ease natures fruit makes me, they simply should just know better than to ask.

Anyhow, now that I have told on myself, and have revealed (in part, mind you) the insider knowledge of the lavish eating habits of two nearly homeless, down-home, Bus livin’ creatures and because I have begun to suffer major digestive problems, I will soon be re-addressing my eating habits, hopefully to lean towards the more meager side of life.

Welcome to Outdoor Adventure

Hello, my name is zoe and I will be moderating the outdoor adventure community for a while.

Thanks for coming by. We’re just getting started here and need your help to get things going. I am a big mountain biking fan and try to ride as much as I can, and also love to kayak in the ocean here in California but haven’t been out in a while. Unfortunately work has been keeping me pretty busy. So doubly I’m gonna need your help knowing what stories, images, and features you would most like to see here. For now, please sign up, join the community, get your profile filled out so other people will know a little about you, and start posting some stories about your outdoor adventures.
