We announced the ability to upload multiple pictures to your posts about a month ago, but with the communities continuing to grow and the community blog getting so much more activity, I thought I would mention it again.
To post multiple images and create a “gallery post” simply BROWSE to upload your first picture normally. Once you’ve selected the first image, a new FILE BROWSE field and button will appear, and you can repeat for as many as you would like to upload.
And once you’ve uploaded photos to a post you can always click the edit link next to the post title and drag and drop your images in whatever order you like, and upload more.
The images used in this announcement to demo the “gallery post” feature are from Mike138’s set of Personal Favorites at Flickr who shares his photos under a creative commons license with an attribution and no derivative works clause. (I need to post an article about the creative commons for you folks who aren’t familiar with it – zoe can you help?).
Mike138 is an amazing photographer and we highly encourage you to check out his work. I was shown his work by zoe who was going to use one of his road photos for a website design (Mike138 allows his photos to be shared for commercial purposes) but the creative commons license apparently does not allow for derivative works. Unfortunately zoe had spent nearly hour placing an NSX onto the road for his client before he noticed the license limitation. Anyway, zoe showed me Mike138’s photos anyway along with his story, and I thought I would use Mike138’s photo for this gallery post demo.
We are continually adding new features to the site, and with every new feature we add there are dozen’s more functions and abilities we want to add to fine tune and perfect the site. Unfortunately (and fortunately) we are a small company and have to take things one day at a time.
Some gallery/photo features we are looking into:
The community blog posts are for us so much more than simply a forum or gallery service. We want to grow the CoTradeCo community blog into a multi-purpose communication and promotion tool that serves your needs. Adding gallery functionality to the posts was just the first step.
We know you have stacks, books, and boxes of amazing outdoor photography to share. So get posting, we have been dying to see your photos. You are half the reason we pushed the gallery ahead before completing other features :)
No pressure or anything. Take your time. But we are excited.
And everybody else, we want to see what you’ve got going on as well. So get posting!
