I am very excited to get started with the planning of Earth Hour 2009 with Tammy. Though we as a whole community should strive to make 2009’s EH more widely known, we also need to take steps in this direction on a daily basis.
At home we need to keep hallway lights off unless we’re walking through them, kitchen lights off if we’re not cooking, and bathroom lights off when we’re not using them. Open our windows and invest in candles.
I’ve noticed small and in some cases even large businesses have been turning off half of their floor lights. This is amazing! Stores are too bright anyhow. We should encourage this and let managers and owners know we appreciate it!
I think we all sense this is a very important time in history. A time where for once talk turns into change. This is a fine time to start!
So, lighten up with us!
I like the idea of candle power! We have several candles and burn on a regular basis over the electricity. Not only does it save money and energy, it makes me feel more relaxed! I also really like it in the summer as it just feels cooler!
I as well have noticed a lot of the super stores having about 1/2 of there lights off. It actually makes for a much nicer shopping experiance!

So true April. I’m almost embarrassed when I think about how much power I alone waste. But I don’t want to get into that :) I’ll just start trying to do better.
And who said awareness campaigns aren’t any good (I actually saw some complaining about Earth Hour about that).
