Greetings!
My boyfriend Smick and I are preparing to head out on a great outdoor adventure in our VW Bus - you will all be able to share in our experiences here at cotreadeco.com. – by the way.
One of the things we did to modify our van for our road trip (it will after all be our new home for some time) is install solar panels. Of course, this was done for our convenience’s and it provides a very practical solution to lending some normality to living out of a van, but what I was pleasantly surprised to discover is that this one single act has raised my awareness incredibly! It is almost in spite of myself that I have moved towards questioning in what way can I be a more useful, healthy and contributing being.
Thank you to all participating in this community,
ily
I too am beyond excited to get the site up and running, sharing with other people about the journey will be one of the most rewarding parts of it, I believe.
As for the solar panels, they generate 60 watts of power, which is pretty hard core. Not only are these bad-boys used for RV’s (and vee-dubs in this case) they are actually meant for cabins, remote power and back up power!
One night, we stayed in the van and watched movies on our computer, listened to music and piddled around with our sewing machine until the wee hours and the charge was back up to full by 10:00am in the morning, before we even woke up!

The van just gets cooler and cooler. I can’t wait until your site is up so we can follow your day to day adventures and see crazy schematic and diagram pictures of the van and it’s mods.
How much power do those generate?
