The 2008 NCAA Tournament will be remembered as the year of the favorites. For the first time in the history of the tournament, all four #1 seeds made it to the final four. An overwhelming number of favorites covered their respective spreads. Also, in a weird twist, the public had a successful tournament from a gambling standpoint. Time and time again, huge public favorites covered their spreads. The “sharps” and Vegas as a whole lost their butts. I mention all this to bring up tomorrows National Championship Game. Memphis opened as a small 1 point favorite, and the public is all over Memphis. The line is currently sitting at Memphis -2. Over 84% of the public is on Memphis. Similar to last nights game where North Carolina was a large favorite to cover against Kansas. Vegas had two games remaining to win back what they had lost against the public from first rounds of the tournament. As no surprise to us, Kansas stormed out and actually won outright. Tomorrow night, we see Kansas beating Memphis in a public shocker. Don’t take the bait, as Memphis is only a small favorite. Be smart, and be on the smart side. Take Kansas tomorrow night in the Championship Game.
