Post Master Cleanse…Day 1
Post Master Cleanse…Day 1

Well the day isn’t over yet, but I thought I would check in before I run out of energy or mental power to do so.

While I don’t feel physically bad, I am definitely more out of it than usual. So far today I’ve had some coffee, lot’s of water, a banana with some peanut butter on it, and some rice and beans (unfortunately good home style).

After getting up and writing my first Master Cleanse post and tinkering around the house a bit, I was committed to getting on my bike. I haven’t seriously ridden since winter started. I’ve been out a few times for some light rides, but I kept getting so wrapped up in work I have been neglecting health and friends.

So I did some stretches and light calisthenics to get ready, and from that alone I was already feeling a bit strained and lightheaded. Not a good sign! But even if I just rode around the block, I was hell bent on going for a ride.

Recognizing that I hadn’t eaten much, I thought a light spin out of the neighborhood to maybe get some light meal would be a good start, as it was evident I wasn’t going far.

But simply riding about a mile to the shopping center proved too much. I was shutting down. I settled for some rice and beans at a fast food style mexican place, mainly because I didn’t feel like going any farther.

Now I’m back and feeling alright, but definitely still drained, which is bad because I have some work to do today. For my sanity and peace of mind it might have to wait till tomorrow.

Anyway, I will keep you all posted. My sister and Alan are still going strong. My sister isn’t feeling any discomfort, but she is indicating similar odd mental glitches and absentmindedness I had experienced. I hope I can get them on here sharing some of their experiences.

At the very least maybe this whole dialog will get me off my butt to create the “Health and Medicine” community for CoTradeCo. If any of you have any snappy name ideas for this new health, wellness, fitness, and medical community I would love to hear them.

See my previous post I tried the Master Cleanse Lemonade Fast…and failed?

I admire your courage but I remain skeptical that these have long lasting results. I am reminded of a list of things that I have heard over the years that can improve your overall health if you can stick to them:

1. Make moderate changes in your diet-portion control-no seconds.

2. Eat less saturated fat, found predominately in red meat, butter, cream and tropical oils.

3. Cut back on trans fatty acids—fried foods are a no no.

4. Limit intake of simple carbs like white flour, white rice, sugar, corn syrup.

5. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and soy products.

6. Exercise, at least 30 minutes 3-5 times a week.

7. Meditate or practice yoga. Work on stress management.

8. Lose 10% of your weight and you’ll be amazed at the results (more energy, lower Blood Pressure etc.).

9. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.

10. Don’t go to the refrigerator unless you know ahead of time what you are after. Just opening the door and staring into it for an idea is often a sign of stress.

Drink a ton of water—you should drink at least one half your body weight in ounces of water every day.

Laugh out loud as often as you can.
